The
Hill's Acres herd is a small herd of Nubian dairy goats. We
have management limits within our barn of 12 milkers and 12 kids,
all of which are tested CAE, abscess and disease free. Although
we maintain an entirely CAE negative herd, we still choose to remove
each of the kids from their dams at birth and raise them on
pasteurized milk. We practice a very rigorous nutritional
program for the entire herd, with special attention given to the
kids. We believe that this helps to prevent any infection of
coccidiosis, enterotoxemia or other ailments. Although our small
numbers limit us on the number of animals available for purchase each
year, we feel it also allows us to provide the best possible care to
each individual in the herd.
Our breeding program is focused on maintaining
a line of stylish, correct, feminine nubians that milk for not only
quantity, but for longevity as well. As you read about
each of the members in the herd you will notice that we share both the
good and the bad news. We feel it important to not only inform
you of the wonderful traits our animals possess, but also of what you
can expect from them. For this reason each animal appearing will have
revealed their show history, milk records and linear appraisal scores;
good or bad. We hope that this honesty enables you to better
select the Hill's Acres herd member that will provide you with the
most benefit. Certainly upon request an extended pedigree can be
provided, as well as answers to any questions or concerns you may have
while making your selection(s). Our goal will always be to
assist you in any way we can and be supportive and helpful in all
aspects of owning a Hill's Acres nubian.
Our herd is comprised of only show quality nubians
and our prices are reflective of that campaign, with doe kid prices
beginning at $300.00, kids of permanent champions at $500.00 and
buck kids at $600.00 with 20 straws of semen back. A $150.00 non-refundable deposit is
required to reserve an animal with the balance due upon
announcement of its birth. Should your request not be available,
another choice can be made, you may have your deposit returned, or
you may have your deposit held for a future purchase. Should we
choose to retain your requested kid in the herd, your deposit will be
promptly refunded. All shipping, delivery and veterinary costs
are the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in the agreed
purchase price. We ask that all pre-ordered kids arrive at
their new homes within four to six weeks of their birth. We feel
that this helps to avoid any additional stress due to the change
in playmates and environment. We reserve the right to refuse
placement of a Hill's Acres nubian to a home of no other goats.
Our girls are raised in a herd environment and we feel the stress of
one of them living alone in their new home would be too great.
We closed our herd to any new additions in November
of 1997 (with the exception of bucks, AI breedings, Spotlight and
Colorama Sale animals). For this reason we do not allow
previously sold animals to re-enter the herd. All sales are
final and deposits are not refunded because of a change of mind or
situation.
The Hill's Acres herd has strived for a line of
consistently strong genetics of some predictability. We feel
strongly that when you pay for a quality animal we have a
responsibility to meet that expectation, hence our guarantee: Each
Hill's Acres doeling is sold as a "show quality" animal and
is guaranteed to be of such at the time of sale. The term
"show quality" is determined by either proof of existing
show records, the show record of a full blood sibling or by the
breeder's expectation based on the kid's lineage. Should a
proven healthy doeling freshen with a less than show quality mammary,
as sometimes happens in all herds, you shall have the one-time option
of returning the animal and it will be sold at auction or
destroyed. Upon the animal's return, (at the buyer's sole
expense), a replacement animal will be selected by the breeder and
made available to the buyer. The buyer is again responsible for
any delivery costs, vetting and all shipping costs for the replacement
animal. Each Hill's Acres animal sold is guaranteed to be
fertile. In the event of infertility a veterinarian's
report is required to verify the condition and that the
animal has received adequate care.
