Always a favorite of ours "Horizon" is
of a style that we really admire. Lot's
of strength, great bone, good feet, breed character and very smoothly
blended but lacking a bit in dairy character. She needs one more leg to
finish her championship. In
the summer of 2002 she was chased by a dog and sustained serious
injuries to both rear legs. This
will most likely prevent her from ever obtaining that last leg.
But, we keep so few "brown" does in our herd that you
know she has to be nice. She
is consistently bred to bucks that make milk and her daughters milk
well. Which is the
foundation behind the excuse we make for her, that her lack of
production is a personal problem! She tends not to talk to us too much
about it, hoping we won't notice. Whether
she ever finishes her championship or not, she is a permanent member of
the herd as her kids are always very impressive as milkers.
