HERD PROFILE
Thank you for
visiting us and your interest in our herd, get comfortable and stay
awhile, we have a lot to share. The Hill's Acres herd is a
small herd of Nubian dairy goats. We have management limits
within our barn of 12 milkers, 12 kids and a few
retired folk, all of which are tested CAE, abscess and disease
free. You will find while browsing that none of our animals will have
14 GCH's or 17 BIS's. This is because we believe that once a Junior
has earned her dry leg, or an animal has achieved its permanent
champion status, it is not only someone else's turn but also time for
us to take our focus from the show ring and move it to the milk
parlor. The exception to this rule would be if we are campaigning the
animal for All-American, a Sale, or if we are forced to take an animal
to a show or fair due to lack of man-power at home while we are away.
In regard to our more elderly ladies, we promised
each of them that if they strutted their stuff in the show ring enough
to be elevated to permanent champion status and then earned themselves
a star, we would offer them early retirement. We ask them to milk only
as long as we need their contribution for our young ones.
We are an active herd on the show circuit and make
every effort to attend the ADGA National Show each year. 2002 was our
greatest success and one we feel will be next to impossible
to repeat. We were named both the Premier Breeder and Exhibitor at one
of the largest National Shows ADGA has hosted in years. There were
nearly 500 nubians in attendance. Truly a very exciting and never even
imagined accomplishment.
Although being the Premier Breeder and Exhibitor is
an overwhelming experience, what pleases us more is the herds overall
consistency and well rounded success. Each animal in attendance,
except one, made the cut in Pueblo and almost all were in the top ten of
their age class. Below you will find just a few of the many high
placings and awards received by herd members and teams.

Truly a day never to be repeated for us! We are truly blessed and give
all the glory to God for allowing us to be stewards of such
a remarkable herd. We strive daily to help all who are a part of our
team to be successful at all they attempt, and well rewarded for
that which they achieve. For without every member, none of Wednesday,
July 17, 2002 would have been possible for us. We thank all who helped
us that day, for without so many good friends the herd could not have
been nearly as well presented. Many thanks go to Tom Cox, Marilou
Webb, Mark Baden, Elsie Hausman, Cory Autry, Nicole and Carolyn Hoeker,
Kim Puzio, Mary Syreka and a forever unrepayable debt to Pam and Benny
Green. Without this road crew it would not have been possible.
We must
also thank all those who hold it together for us at home while we
are away, Rebecca Potts, Jeanne Rypka, Deanna Sheckler and Lea
Provence. Many hands go into making this herd what it is. We cannot
take but just a very small portion of the credit.
We hope that you enjoy your tour of our herd and
that some day we may have the opportunity to meet with you in person,
or over the telephone and share with you more detailed information.
Our farm warmly welcomes any visitors and passers through. If you are
in our area be sure to plan a visit and meet the girls in person.
Smiles,
Teresa & Don
