We
purchased Black Tie with three things in mind, milk, size and breed
character. His first season with us he was used very little.
He was bred to Hill's Acres Charmed I'm Sure 2*M
and produced a lovely doe kid, Hill's Acres
Charming Effects. Effects has only been shown twice, the first
where she was 1st place and Junior Champion earning her dry leg, and the
second being the 2002 ADGA National Show in Pueblo, CO where she was the
5th place Senior Yearling out of 78. She appraised one week after
coming home from that National show Ec Ec Ec, Excellent overall at
1-03. I would say for his first kid, that's not too shabby. We
have several young kids from him this year that are too young to have gone
to any shows. All of his kids are similar in type, long, dairy, open
ribbed, level and very correct with improved breed character over their
dams-just as we had hoped.
His dam was the primary reason for us choosing him as
our new herd sire. GCH Goldthwaite My Bonny Love 5*M, FS90 (VEEE)
has the type of nubian head we were looking to bring to our herd, as well
as the milk and size we wanted all rolled into one beautiful doe.
She has been many times BOB, BUOB, BUIS and BDIS. Bonny was also
named the 1999 National Show Production Award winner and placed 12th in
her Aged Doe class despite all those years on the show circuit. What
impresses us most about this doe is if you look at her daughters, they
look just like her. This demonstrates to us that there is genetic
strength in her blood. It leads us to believe that she is capable of
consistently reproducing her own traits in future generations without a
lot of guess work, in short, a genetically strong dam line much like our
own.
Black Tie himself was kind of a fast growing, gangly
yearling as you can see in his picture above. As a two year-old
however, he has come into his full, masculine self. He is extremely
correct, with legs placed correctly under the wither, wonderful rear leg
angulation and set, very open ribbed and flat boned with a strong level
topline. He is high headed, sharp and angular, like his dam, with
short strong pasterns and wonderful feet. He has been shown only
four times, always placing first with at least nine in his class and was
Grand Champion earning his first official leg as just a yearling when
competing against 15 other senior nubian bucks. We anxiously await
Effects to freshen and give us a glimpse of what he is capable of in the
women's department. Until then we will be keeping her legs crossed!
